BEHIND HAVEN
Hi friends, I’m Emily! I’m the owner of Haven Therapy. A practice that values connection, relationship, and helping client’s in navigating the messy, tender parts of being human.
My Passion
My personal and professional experience has led me to feel passionate about my work in so many ways. I like to bring warmth, humor, and a bit of humanity into my practice. I am grateful to have therapists throughout my life that created and supported such transformation and my hope for our work together is to do the same.
I enjoy helping my clients identify negative patterns and aim to foster a relationship to help them feel less alone, lost, or frustrated with their current life struggles. My work is highly attachment-based, a framework that focuses on the impact of early relationships on an individual's emotional and psychological well-being and how that plays out in the present.
I specialize in treating individuals who are experiencing relationship difficulties, betrayal trauma, domestic abuse, and/or divorce. I love working with couples and helping them break the cycles that are keeping them stuck, distant, and disconnected.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, and I graduated with my Masters Degree from Whitworth University. I have training and experience in several individual and family frameworks, as well as specialize in working with couples. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method.
My Values
-
Therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what’s really happening without feeling judged or put into a box.
-
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with me?” we can ask, “Why does this make sense?” Understanding creates room for change.
-
Lasting change often means looking beyond the immediate problem to understand what’s underneath it.
-
You don't have to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. You can show up exactly as you are.
-
Therapy isn't about pretending everything is okay. It's about making space for what is difficult while believing that things can be different.
